NEW YORK — Demonstrators gathered at St. Vartan Park on Monday, Feb. 3, to protest a recent presidential executive order restricting gender-affirming healthcare for minors. The rally, organized by NYU YDSA and NYC DSA, drew hundreds of participants concerned about the impact of the order, signed Jan. 28.

Protesters held signs and chanted slogans advocating for transgender rights and access to medical care. The executive order prohibits federal funding for gender-affirming treatments for individuals under 19, prompting hospitals, including NYU Langone, to limit related services.

New York Attorney General Letitia James criticized the order, urging healthcare providers to continue offering care despite federal restrictions. The rally highlighted growing opposition to the policy, with activists vowing to defend the rights of transgender youth.
